“Human Touch” By Chris Poage is a garage-y tune about companionship.
This wouldn’t exist with out the awesomeness of Les Thornley, Christina Moore and Jay M. Jones
Now check it out!
I love how organically this unfolded so I thought I’d share the process:
Originally, I wrote a script where 2 aliens were summoned by an unsuspecting metal detecting treasure hunter. I was emailing the crew, we fixed up our costumes, gathered our gear and booked a day to shoot! Then last minute I had a gut feeling and decided to scrap the script and do what I love best in music. Improvise! I picked 2 semi secluded locations and 1 very public one and retained a general idea but other then that we simply decided to summon the aliens and see what would happen.
The drone shots on the grassy knoll were taken at a bright water treatment facility. We drew a bit of attention from the few people that were there. I think we all knew at that point this was going to be a very interesting day.
Video editor and actor extraordinaire Christina Moore played the unsuspecting power walker.
Then we met Eric, He was walking through the woods with his baby. He looked at us a bit perplexed so Jay asked if he would want to be in our video! Sure enough he, was a natural, thank you Eric! He also mentioned that sitting in nature for an hour can relive days of pent up stress – words of wisdom!
Jay Jones played the man on the bench that gets his hat stolen by the aliens. Jay was also the drone operator, and helped direct our guest actors.
Then we met George, the stylin’ older gentleman with the denim look. He was out for a walk in the same lovely woods. He kind of skirted our operation at first but when the 9 foot aliens shouted out “we come in peace” he came a little closer and it turned out Les loosely knew him! What a coincidence. So we asked if he would like to be in our video and he was up for it too! What a great actor George was!
The last scene takes place at Bothell landing where we just kinda hung out in peoples way on the Burke Gilman trail and mostly waved at kids for a few hours. We were all getting tired and mostly the aliens did not talk So sadly, I did not get any names here but the girl who reached her hand out to touch the aliens was nice, she hung out with us for a while and the other girl on the bench led us in a guided meditation of sorts about peace and new beginnings while we were holding fingers so that was cool!
*side note we also encountered some boys in the woods on BMX bikes and asked them to be in our video. However, they said no and peddled away pretty quick. It turns out teenage boys are the most afraid of 9′ aliens.
All in all this was a really fun day. I’m so glad we have this video to show for it too. Hope you enjoy!
Chris
